Raving in Las Vegas: The Survival Guide You Actually Need

First time raving in Vegas or just leveling up your game? Here's everything you need to know before you hit the Strip — and beyond it.

Las Vegas doesn't need an introduction — but the Las Vegas rave scene absolutely does. Yes, the mega-clubs on the Strip exist, and yes, they're an experience. But if you've found your way to Ravers R Us, you probably already know there's a whole other world out here: warehouse parties, underground showcases, festival weekends that turn the desert into a second home. Whether you're touching down for the first time or you've been sleeping on what this city really offers after dark, this guide is your cheat code.

Know the Landscape: Strip vs. Underground

The Strip megaclubs (you know the ones) are loud, expensive, and built for bottle-service energy. Nothing wrong with that if it's your vibe — but the underground scene is something else entirely. Look for warehouse events in the Arts District near Downtown, promoter-run shows at smaller venues off the main drag, and the occasional pop-up in the desert outskirts. Keep your eyes on our events calendar for RRU's Las Vegas dates, because we're bringing San Diego underground energy straight to the 702.

Getting There Without Losing Your Mind (or $60 in Parking)

Driving on the Strip on a Friday night is a special kind of punishment. If your event is anywhere near the main corridor, skip the car entirely. The Las Vegas Monorail covers a solid stretch of the Strip and runs until 3 AM on weekends — genuinely useful if you're bouncing between spots early in the night. Ride-share is your best friend for anything off-Strip; just set your pickup point a block away from the venue so you're not waiting in a chaotic drop-off zone. If you are driving to a warehouse or Arts District show, arrive early — street parking fills up fast and paid lots near Downtown can still run $10–20 depending on the night. Carpooling with your crew isn't just eco-friendly, it's the move.

Pre-Game Food That Won't Destroy You

This is not optional — eat a real meal before you go out. Vegas is full of 24-hour spots and late-night options, but fueling up before the night starts will carry you further than a 4 AM slice of pizza ever could. Downtown Las Vegas has a growing food scene with everything from solid ramen spots to late-night tacos. If you're staying near the Strip, hit a food hall or a sit-down spot before you even think about getting ready. Hydrate seriously too — Vegas desert air is dry, venues are hot, and your body will remind you of every glass of water you skipped. Electrolyte packets in your bag are low-key one of the best packing decisions you'll make.

What to Pack (and What to Leave at the Hotel)

Venues here range from climate-controlled megaclubs to open-air warehouse situations where the temperature drops hard after midnight. Layer up for outdoor or semi-outdoor events — a lightweight jacket stuffed in a small bag goes a long way. Most clubs and event spaces have strict bag policies, so check before you go. Essentials: ID (obviously), phone battery pack, ear protection (yes, every time — hearing loss is real and permanent), cash for coat check or water, and comfortable shoes. Leave the rollaboard at home. Leave the platform boots for after you've confirmed the floor situation.

Stay Safe, Look Out for Each Other

The rave community runs on PLUR, and that means showing up for people around you — not just your crew. Vegas attracts massive crowds and a wide mix of experience levels, which means you'll occasionally see someone who needs a check-in. Know where medical tents or staff are located before you're deep in a set. If you're at a festival or large outdoor event, pick a meet-up spot with your group in case you lose signal or get separated. The DanceSafe harm reduction organization often has a presence at larger events and is always worth seeking out. Take care of yourselves and take care of each other — that's how we keep these spaces alive.
